#2′s First Ultrasound

Hey there! Tommy’s future brother or sister here…just a brief interruption on my big bro’s blog to bring you the latest on my development.

Today was my very first ultrasound. I am growing quickly and right on schedule according to all the high-tech measurements. I am 12 1/2 weeks right now and looking forward to my November 8, 2007 debut (but I’m sure my parents, especially Mommy, wouldn’t mind if I showed up a little sooner).

Here’s my first mugshot: Here’s video of me wiggling and dancing in Mommy’s belly. You can see me best at the very end:

First Concert

Today Tommy enjoyed his first concert, Sesame Street Live at UNLV’s Cox Pavilion. He absolutely loved it! (Though you can’t tell from the picture above…lately it’s been very challenging to get him to smile for the camera.) As each of his Sesame Street friends came on stage he squealed with joy, and did a pretty good job pointing out who’s who! He also had a lot of fun singing the alphabet song and bopped energetically to several tunes about numbers.

Mommy bought Tommy a special treat to enjoy during the show: buttered popcorn. James and I together ate about 1/3 of the tub and little man polished off the rest then asked for more. I had no idea he was such a fan!

Here’s a little video of him munching and dancing. We didn’t manage to catch his most animated moments on camera, but he truly had a blast!

Tommy Snacks with Baby Doll

In recent weeks, Tommy’s preparing for his role as Big Brother by playing with a new friend: Baby Doll. Today he brought BD to the lunch table with us and helped him drink from a cup. He loves to shower his new friend with cuddles, kisses and joyful tosses across the room (he’ll only be allowed the first two with his real brother or sister…at least ’til they can volunteer for flight school!). In the picture above Tommy shares a graham cracker snack with BD, making sure before they chowed down that everyone had several crackers and a cup from which to drink.

Tommy & Uncle D…Stuntmen

Tommy and his Uncle Derick perform an impressive stunt for the camera…Derick carefully balances his beloved nephew while Tommy picks his nose. This takes talent, folks. TJ enjoyed a rowdy evening playing with his uncle, in which he showcased his somersault skills and wiggle worm floor routine. Below you’ll find a quick video of one of their tamer moments:

Garbage Truck

More driving! This time Tommy’s behind the wheel of a non-smelly garbage truck. He got to climb around in the cab of the truck at a local environmental fair on Earth Day. He did NOT want to come down from his perch! We hope this doesn’t point toward a career as a sanitation engineer…

Park Fun

*Important note: This day I actually got our son to wear a hat (that doesn’t require velcro) for more than 30 seconds! He must love his Uncle Derick’s Astros.
Tommy enjoys the play structure at a new park near our home. He has so much fun jogging across this wobbly bridge! The giggles as he crosses are contagious.
Additionally, he practices his driving skills on the play steering wheel. Daddy’s already talking about sending him to the BMW Teen Driving School in 2021.

Couch Potato

Tommy relaxes with Mommy before heading up to bed. Our little guy, who used to retire promptly at 7pm, has stretched his bedtime to between 7:30 and 8pm lately. Extra energy to burn off after our evening meal? Too many cookies for dessert? Can’t bear the thought of missing Wheel of Fortune? Only he knows the truth, but he’s usually perfectly pleasant during this time, so we don’t mind the extra company for a bit longer each night.

Fun Videos

Below you’ll find a couple of Tommy videos we took back in January and February. I’m playing catch up!

Tommy dukes it out with Leo, the Boston Terrier:

Tommy “skis” in our family room with Daddy’s help:

And for a limited time, Tommy’s agreed to share his blog with his new brother or sister…here’s video of Mommy & Daddy hearing his or her heartbeat for the first time:

An Apple a Day…

Tommy loves to help himself to apples on the kitchen table…any excuse to climb on the chairs! With his climbing skills improving (and his willfulness increasing) we often find him perched atop one of the chairs reaching for whatever he can get his hands on. He even knows what to say when he gets caught: “Sit down!” he exclaims once he’s been made. At least he’s found a healthy snack and not Mommy’s candy bowl.

Serious Sandboxing

The sandbox is very serious business for Mr. Tommy. I couldn’t coax a smile out of this child for the life of me while he played there the other day. It’s by far his favorite park activity for the time being. Do you think he’s trying to tell us that he needs some beach time soon?

Easter Fun

Tommy enjoyed a very fun Easter this year. He joined friends in an Easter Egg Hunt at his friend Olivia’s birthday party (birthday girl is in the floral dress on the left).
Here Tommy and his good buddy, Ryan, make like their daddies and determine whether they have a better shot at the 3rd or 4th hole on Olivia’s putting green. Just so they can better show their boys how it’s done, James and Ryan’s daddy, Bryce, went out for a round of golf later that afternoon. Nice ears, dudes!
And it’s not really a party until someone falls in the pool. Try as they might, the kids couldn’t get past the safety net, but they managed to get completely soaked splashing their toes in the water.
