Tommy celebrated Memorial Day with a barbecue in our back yard. Grandpa Tom, Ann-ma, Uncle Brian, Aunt Lisa and all four cousins came to welcome summertime with us. Here he’s joined in the sandbox with buddies CJ & Marshall, too: Follow-the-leader! What a fun game for boys to play!

Tommy’s 2-Year-Old Check-up
Tommy paid a visit to Dr. Blank last week for his 2-year-old well-child visit. He’s in excellent health! He’s now 33 3/4″ tall, weighed in just shy of 29 lbs. and he’s getting his 2-year molars (hence the crankiness lately!) He’s meeting or exceeding all of the developmental milestones, especially those for language. Wonder where our little chatterbox gets it from?
The doctor predicts he’ll reach approximately 5’9″ in height, but only time will tell…let’s hope he gets Daddy’s height gene (6’1″) and doesn’t fall victim to Mommy’s vertical challenge (5’4″).
Belly Progress – 15 Weeks
I’m feeling MUCH better lately, though I get fatigued by the afternoon and try to take a nap while TJ snoozes. Baby’s heart rate was 158 at our 5/18 appointment and he or she is estimated to be the size of an avocado at this point. We are anxious to find out boy or girl, but won’t learn the news until our next ultrasound, which is scheduled for 6/18.
Tommy Turns 2!
More birthday footage, this is taken from Tommy’s actual second birthday, 5/17/07. We started his big “2 Day” with a few presents: Dr. Suess books from Grandma Norma and a couple of Matchbox airplanes.
We had a busy day! First, we started the day out with soccer class, then went to lunch at Chuck E. Cheese’s with Uncle Derick. Tommy really likes to play basketball!
And cheating at Skeeball is another favorite pastime.
Here’s the video:
Riding the broken train.
Finally, we went to BJ’s Pizza for dinner and cake with Uncle Derick, Uncle Brian, Aunt Lisa and Cody. Here’s our family pose:
With Uncle Brian:
“For me? Again? I love birthday cake…”
Happy Second Birthday, Tommy! We love you so much and can’t believe how quickly you’re growing into a little boy.Tommy & Marshall’s Birthday Party – Part 2
Here are some great videos from Tommy & Marshall’s birthday party. The first is general craziness in the jump house, followed by Tommy pigging out on his cake.
Bounce time!
How much cake can a little boy eat?
Tommy & Marshall’s Birthday Party
Tommy and his good buddy, Marshall, celebrated their 2nd birthdays together with friends this weekend. They had their party at a great place called Pump It Up, a kid’s bounce house dream! The boys, friends and parents all had a wonderful time and we can’t wait to go back.
Mommy’s friends, Jodie & Emily, smile in front of the obstacle course. It’s not for wimps! There was an inflatable rock wall on the back that takes some serious strength to climb.
The boys’ friend, Logan, shows the gang how to enjoy the big slide. What a brave girl to do it by herself!
Tommy shoots a few hoops with Uncle Jeremy, whose 6’6″ height is quite an advantage when it comes to playing ball! Once TJ spotted the basketballs he wanted nothing more to do with the jump houses!
The birthday boys jump for joy! Marshall’s mommy, Tamica, made these great matching birthday shirts for them.
Air hockey fun with Aunt Cindy. She and Uncle Jeremy drove all the way from Redondo Beach to celebrate with us.
Sitting in the Birthday Throne with Marshall. M3 wasn’t so happy about all the attention!
Shoveling in the birthday cake with Mommy & Daddy.
Mmm! Cake is tasty!
And finally, a video of the boys blowing out their birthday candles. They look as sweet as their cake as everyone sings to them.
Addilyn’s Visit

Cruising Fashion Show mall with Auntie Bradi & Daddy. Tommy helps push the stroller.

Silly Hat
Splashing in the Fountain
Tommy enjoys splashing in the cool water on a warm day. The park near our home has this wonderful water feature that he LOVES. He likes to run around in the fountains for a while, then off to the sandbox for a nice coat of “breading” before we head home. He’s usually a big mess by the end of playtime, but the smile on his face is priceless.
A Run in the Park
Daddy & Tommy take a stroll through our neighborhood park. Tommy enjoyed helping Daddy push the stroller, in fact he liked it so much that he helped push the whole way home from the park. What great practice for the future big brother!
Now for some video…Tommy takes us for a run. He loves to be outside and has so much fun going as fast as his little legs will take him.
Shrieking Contest
Tommy has a shrieking contest with our neighbors’ daughter, Nicole. Our other neighbors, Miranda & Ryley, and our dog, Kaya, look on as the silliness ensues. Tommy loves to practice his falsetto and experiment with what his voice can do.
One Little Monkey…
Tommy jumps on the couch cushions while reciting his rendition of “Five Little Monkeys.” Whenever he climbs onto the couch, bed, etc. he loves to exclaim “Monkey bed!” to warn us that some serious bouncing is about to take place. The video below is pretty tame compared to most of his jumping sessions!
Who’s at the Door?
This afternoon the doorbell rang. I asked Tommy, “Who’s at the Door?” He became very excited and while galloping toward the front door he exclaimed, “Pizza’s here!” Not like we have it delivered nightly, but perhaps we should cut back on the Dominos?
They really do say the darnedest things.
Also, the other week I gave Tommy a cup of applesauce with his breakfast. I looked away for a mere moment and the applesauce found its way to the floor. I told Tommy, “Oh no! There’s applesauce everywhere!” then went about cleaning up the mess. Didn’t think much of it, really. Flash forward to reading “Goodnight Moon” before his afternoon nap yesterday. He really loves this story and has fun repeating the lines back to me as we go. I’m sure you’ve all read it at one time or another, but as a refresher the final line of the book is “Goodnight noises everywhere.” I turn to the last page and before I can read what’s written, Tommy says with delight, “Applesauce everywhere!” What a good memory he has! The associations kids can make at this age are truly amazing to me.
