Week 22

She’s still growing! It’s hard to believe a couple of weeks ago I was excited about already being at the halfway mark…now I can’t help but think I’m ONLY at the halfway mark. Las Vegas’ soaring temperatures aren’t helping to make this phase of pregnancy any easier. We’ve been well into the triple digits lately and it’s quite miserable. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

Baby Girl’s weight, approximately one pound, is starting to press down on my pelvic bones already. A pound doesn’t sound like much, but it can certainly feel like a whole lot more at times. I don’t remember this shift happening nearly as early with Tommy. I’m trying to limit lifting heavy loads – groceries, Tommy – to ease the discomfort.

Tommy is getting more and more excited about the baby. Now that he can see my growing belly I think he might understand that Baby Sister is inside. He even goes so far as to speak directly to her…he crawls next to me on the couch, leans over my belly and says, “I love you, Baby Sister!” with a pat and a smile. It’s the sweetest thing. He’s still, by the way, talking about how he helped to pick out the lamp for her room.

Fourth of July Fun

Tommy had a great 4th of July. We had a few friends over for a barbecue and he chowed on a grilled hot dog and homemade cornbread. Since it was 115 degrees that day, we stayed inside until the sun dropped and then he went for a dip in the pool with Daddy, wearing his adorable American flag swim trunks. He also enjoyed watching Daddy light fireworks in the street in front of our home. He kept saying “Daddy blow out fireworks” while he watched the show, puffing his cheeks as though trying to extinguish birthday candles. Here he sits like such a big boy on our driveway before the fun began.

Week 21

Baby is getting bigger by the day! She’s a mover and a shaker, and LOVES to wiggle around right before I fall asleep at night. I’m definitely having some growing pains, but nothing unbearable just yet.James and I have made some progress on the nursery…we found a crib set we really like and have narrowed down a bedding selection, too. Tommy helped me pick a great Eiffel Tower lamp for his baby sister’s room. He says, “Tommy choose Baby Sister’s lamp” with pride every time he sees it. What a mouthful! And here’s a peek at the artwork that inspired the room’s theme. Sure hope she likes it!

Ultrasound #3

We had our anatomy ultrasound for #2 this morning and according to our doctor she looks perfect! All 10 fingers and 10 toes are accounted for, her little brain and heart are formed just as they should be, and she has a darned cute profile, too:And here is yet another picture confirming her gender. Now that she’s been TRIPLE checked, we feel confident in making choices on nursery decor. I’m thinking vintage hot-air balloons over Paris, though you won’t catch us with a frou-frou poodle in there. And we may come up with a name one of these days…we’ll keep you posted!

Week 20 – Halfway!

20 weeks down, 20 weeks to go! With Thursday, June 21 marking the end of my 20th week of pregnancy, does that mean it’s all downhill from here? Oh, how I wish that were the case…

Here is a belly shot to show our progress. When I woke up yesterday morning, I rolled on to my side and could have sworn the bump grew overnight. She’s definitely getting bigger and more active…I can feel lots of little kicks and nudges throughout the day.

Here’s an extra belly picture to make up for being a slacker the past several weeks!

Tommy’s First Baseball Game

Tommy went to his first baseball game Friday night. We went down to Cashman Field to root for our hometeam, the Las Vegas 51s, in 108 degrees! Little man lasted 3 innings, which wasn’t too bad considering the heat, and it was past his usual bedtime anyhow. Perhaps he’ll be ready for a Dodgers game by next season?

Future Businessmen

Tommy & Marshall take a short break from their very serious work at Marshall’s Daddy’s office. Between working on spreadsheets and attending boardmeetings, they had lots of fun spinning in the chair. They decided to blow off the rest of the work day after a power lunch at the Mandalay Bay buffet and opted for naps instead.

Beach Visit

Tommy made a visit to Redondo Beach the day after Disneyland. First a quick pose at brunch…he loves to wear his sunglasses upside down!Next, his oceanside photoshoot. First with Grandma Norma:Then with Uncle Jeremy & Aunt Cindy, who took him down to the surf so he could get his feet wet. The water was so cold his little legs looked purple! And a pose with Daddy & Mommy rounds out the bunch:

Disneyland!

Tommy enjoyed a very special trip to Disneyland with Mommy, Daddy, Grandma Norma, Aunt Cindy and Uncle Jeremy this weekend. We went to celebrate both Fathers’ Day and Mommy’s birthday. We started the day with the “Minnie & Friends” breakfast at the Plaza Inn on Main Street. He met many of his favorite characters…

With Eeyore:
A few with Pooh:

With Dale: After breakfast we set off on our Disneyland adventure, first stopping by the Buzz Lightyear ride, then hopping on the Rocket Ships at the entrance to Tomorrowland. Tommy enjoyed piloting the ride for Daddy, since he is a much better driver than his father. ;) Aunt Cindy & Uncle Jeremy are in the rocket ship behind the boys.

Then off to the Tiki Room with Daddy and Grandma. Tommy loves to sing and dance with the birds!
Riding the Disneyland Train was a lot of fun, too. We started and finished at the New Orleans station while Aunt Cindy & Uncle Jeremy went on the Haunted Mansion ride…too scary for Tommy!
Mommy & Daddy in Toontown, while a very tired Tommy snoozed in his stroller.
A silly Tommy poses in the Blue Bayou restaurant during dinner. He loved it when the waiter let him blow out the candle on our table.
All in all, it was a fabulous day in the magic kingdom! We were there for nearly 12 hours and Tommy was in good spirits for nearly the entire visit.

Brennan Graduates

Tommy helped celebrate his cousin Brennan’s high school graduation last week. Here he poses for a photo with the handsome graduate and Tommy’s favorite blonde, Brennan’s girlfriend, Brooke. At the graduation party Tommy was very excited about the “Happy Birthday Graduation” cake and was looking all over the place for a candle to blow out!

Busy Reader

Tommy enjoys some light reading…his Sesame Street dictionary! He loves to look at the “A” section so far, as it’s where he finds the pictures of airplanes. He’s reluctant to smile on command for us, so don’t let the stone-faced look fool you.

Week 19

I’ve been bad about taking the weekly belly shots lately, but here is a photo that kind of documents our “growth.” Mommy & Daddy pose with cousin Brennan, 18, at his high school graduation in Las Vegas. At the 19 week point, I’m definitely sporting a roomier dress!

Week 18 – It’s a Girl!

Tommy is going to have a little SISTER in November. We had our second ultrasound June 5, which revealed #2′s gender as female. The ultrasound technician so eloquently labeled this shot as “No Pee-Pee.” What a great vocabulary! Baby Girl was curled up in a little ball most of the session, so we will go back in late June for the doctor to check the rest of her anatomy. Profile. The large diagonal lines you see in the middle are her jaw bones.
And here is a belly photo for Week 18:

Tommy’s New Drums

Our little wild man now has a set of toy drums on which to bang his little heart out! We know what you’re thinking, “They’re CRAZY to get their child a drum set!” But really, it’s quite the opposite…we always know what he’s up to as long as we can hear him rum-pum-pum-pumming. This homing device of sorts keeps us sane, as he’s been slightly unpredictable lately.

Now, for those who can’t wait for a live concert, here’s a link to Tommy’s first set…(please note: Daddy put the drum set together shortly after he and Tommy said “Mommy, you go ahead and sleep in a while this morning.” That didn’t last long!):
